They both really liked taking acting, but it was interesting how their different personalities came through. They were allowed to choose whatever costume they wanted from a selection the teacher had. Seth chose a very basic costume. He was a monkey and the costume was a baseball hat with monkey ears, a brown t-shirt, and a tail. Joel chose to be "Thing 2" which included a full costume of bright red and yellow shirt and pants, red gloves, and a blue clown wig. They also were asked if they wanted to wear face paint. Seth declined, but Joel talked about it for weeks that he was going to get to wear face paint!!
We practiced their routine and lines here at home leading up to the big night. They both were nervous, but they shined on stage! Seth was the more reserved of the two when we practiced, but he really got into on stage. Joel hammed it up, of course, but we expected that.
They both told us last night that they'd like to take acting again. Seth can't right now because baseball season starts in a couple of weeks, but I was so happy that he enjoyed doing it. It was so good for him to be taken out of his comfort zone. He had told us a couple of weeks ago that he didn't want to take acting again. He liked it, but he didn't want to do another class. I don't think he realized that although he would be nervous he would also have a lot of fun doing the show. There is a summer week long camp that the theatre organization offers so we'll probably let them both do that.
